A peek inside
Billy grunted as he tried to walk faster. His mother ignored his squeaking joints and pulled harder on the rope. They finally reached an aging wood structure. Helen struggled with the heavy door.

“Do you want to see me dance?” Billy asked

“Yes, baby, but first, we have to hide for a little bit.”

Helen hesitated as she heard an ever-increasing sound of a group of people approaching. She just barely made out a voice shouting, “Helen Shire? We have come for the boy devil!”

“Hurry, Billy.” She pushed her son inside and bolted the door.

Her son whined pitifully, “Mama loves me?”

“Yes, baby, Mama loves you very much. Now you be quiet for just a little while. I’ll be back for you soon.”
